The Witch Queen campaign isn't the only new activity in Destiny 2. Season of the Risen kicked off today with a new playlist activity, PsiOps Battlegrounds, and a seasonal questline called Operation Elbrus. Progression in Season of the Risen is governed by a newly revamped War Table that can be found in the H.E.L.M. Where once it was used to orchestrate Battlegrounds operations against Empress Caiatl's Cabal forces, now we find ourselves teaming up with the Cabal Empire to oppose Savathun's Lucent Brood in PsiOps Battlegrounds across the solar system. Between missions, we'll be returning to the War Table to buy seasonal upgrades, collect rank rewards, and focus our umbrals into valuable weapons and armor. Here's a complete guide to Season of the Risen's new War Table.

The Operation Elbrus questline isn't accessible until you've completed the first two mission in The Witch Queen campaign. Once you've met Fynch in Savathun's Throne World you can visit the Tower to start the seasonal questline and access the new War Table.

How To Use Season Of The Risen's New War Table

The War Table is located in the back of the H.E.L.M just as it always has been. Access the table any time you visit the H.E.L.M. this season and you'll see the following:

  • Your War Table Reputation Rank, increased by completing PsiOps Battlegrounds and opening Runic Chests
  • Your War Table Upgrades, split into two categories: Requisition Upgrades and Operational Upgrades
  • War Table rank rewards - focused Umbral Engrams that can be collected at set rank intervals
  • War Table bounties that reward experience
  • A new Umbral Focusing menu

This is where you'll unlock all of your seasonal upgrades and focus your Umbral Engrams throughout Season of the Risen. Compared to previous systems, the reputation and upgrade process is fairly straightforward here. There are only a few currency types to keep track of this time and only one new playlist activity (so far), so once you've learned the new vocabulary, the entire process is fairly straightforward. There are two primary uses for the War Table: focusing Umbral Engrams and purchasing seasonal upgrades.

How To Get Risen Umbral Energy And Focus Umbral Engrams

The primary resource this season is called Psychogenic Intel. If you're a Destiny 2 veteran, think of Psychogenic Intel like Decrypted Data or Parallax Trajectory. The Psychogenic Intel you earn can be used in PsiOps Battlegrounds to open Runic Chests. It costs 500 Psychogenic Intel to open each chest, and each chest contains two Risen Umbral Energy. Risen Umbral Energy is the resource used to focus Umbral Engrams at the War Table - along with Legendary Shards - into specific weapons and armor. You will also recieve Risen Umbral Energy from the season pass at levels two, 52, 70, and 92 for a total of eight Risen Umbral Energy.

Unlike previous seasons, you can now focus your Umbral Engrams into specific weapons and armor pieces. There are three tiers of focused Umbrals. The three Focused Decoding options will roll from a large pool. Wordly Armor can roll any armor piece from several activities and locations, Arsenal of the Dreaming City will roll one of seven weapons from the Dreaming City, and Tools of the Risen will roll armor and weapons from the current season. In the Umbral Focusing: Armor tier, you can choose the specific armor slot you want to roll for, but the stats will be random. Unlocking the Armor Decoding Clearance upgrade in the War Table will ensure these rolls have high stats. Finally, the Umbral Focusing: Weapons tier will allow you to focus your Umbral Engrams into one of six specific Season of the Risen weapons. These cost nine Risen Umbral Energy each and are the most expensive focuses available.

How To Get Insight And Unlock Upgrades In The War Table

Currently, the only way to get Insight is by completing weekly seasonal challenges. The only challenge that rewards Insight this week is Psychogenic Decoder, which requires you to collect 500 Psychogenic Intel and two Risen Umbral Energy. Work your way through the first few steps of Operation Elbrus and you'll earn all the resources you need to complete this challenge. Since you can only earn one Insight this week, you'll need to decide if you want to buy the Armor Decoding Clearance upgrade, which allows you to focus high-stat seasonal armor, or the Throne World Surveillance upgrade, which grants bonus Psychogenic Intel for completing campaign missions and Throne World activities. The Psychogenic Intel cap is only 1000 and you earn at least 250 for each Public Event completion, so it might be best to start with the Armor Decoding Clearance upgrade here. New War Table upgrades will unlock each week and you'll need to complete seasonal challenges to earn the necessary Insight to purchase them.
