However, stopping the summoning of Garuda is not all you'll have to contend with. The Ixali are adamant on protecting their home and completing the summoning. Let's take a look at each of the bosses you'll encounter in Xelphatol, their attacks and mechanics, and how to beat them.

How To Unlock Xelphatol

Xelphatol is unlocked through the following quest.

  • Accept the Main Scenario Quest 'Shadows of the First'
    • NPC Location: Alphinaud - Fortemps Manor, The Pillars (X:11.5, Y:11.0)

Dungeon Walkthrough

As you make your way through the first section of this dungeon, watch for falling rocks on the path. These can create circle AoEs that you'll need to dodge. Additionally, this area allows for some pretty big trash pulls, so keep that in mind if you want to make quick work of the enemies in the section before the first boss.

In the final section of this dungeon, Warballoons will move between platforms, delivering enemies to the battlefield until the balloon are destroyed. Upon destroying the Warballoon, a Xelphatol Windtalon will emerge, who will drop an Airstone when defeated. Use this item on the Tailwind Relic to unlock the path forward.

Nuzal Hueloc

The first boss of Xelphatol is Nuzal Hueloc. This boss's attacks and mechanics are detailed below.

  • Short Burst: Deals a small amount of damage to the Tank. Heal through this attack.
  • Wind Blast: Nuzal Hueloc will target a random player before firing a line AoE in their direction. Move out of the AoE indicator to avoid this attack.
  • Lift: The boss will fly into the air, become invulnerable, and summon adds around the arena; a few Ixali Stitchers and a Floating Turret. When the Floating Turret is destroyed, it will cast Hot Blast, knocking all players into the air. To move into the next phase of the fight, all players should move directly underneath the boss just before the Turret uses Hot Blast, causing them to fly into the boss and knock him back down to the arena.
    • Air Raid: During Lift, the boss will periodically cast Air Raid, dealing damage to all party members and inflict Windburn, which deals damage over time. This debuff can be cleared with Esuna, but the damage is low enough that regen healing will work just fine.
  • Airstones: These enemies will spawn around the arena and tether to the boss or Floating Turret, making them invulnerable. Destroy the Airstones quickly to continue the fight.
  • Long Burst: Nuzal Hueloc will target a random player, dealing damage to them and inflicting Windburn. This attack is unavoidable, so heal through the damage.

Nuzal Hueloc will repeat these attacks until he is defeated. Be sure to quickly move underneath the boss after destroying the Floating Turret, as it will use Hot Blast shortly after it is destroyed. If you don't hit the boss out of the air on the first try, this phase will repeat until you do.

Dotoli Ciloc

The second boss of Xelphatol is Dotoli Ciloc. Around the edge of the arena is a layer of spikes that will deal damage and inflict vulnerability up and Stab Wounds, dealing damage over time. Avoid entering the spikes as you avoid the boss's attacks and mechanics, listed below.

  • On Low: A short cone AoE to the front of the boss. Move out of the AoE indicator to avoid.
  • On High: Dotoli Ciloc will knock all players away from the center of the arena. To avoid being knocked into the spikes around the edge of the arena, position yourself in front of one of the barriers around the edge.
  • Dark Wings: Dotoli Ciloc will target players with an AoE marker that summons a tornado on their position. The tornado will remain on the arena for a while, and deals damage to players who move inside it. These should be placed anywhere in the arena except for in front of the barriers to avoid being knocked into them when the boss cats On High.
  • Swiftfeather: The boss will grant itself a short Haste buff that drastically reduces the cast time for the next attack.

Dotoli Ciloc will repeat these attacks until he is defeated. This fight will get much harder as it progresses and more tornadoes are summoned. Do your best to damage the boss as you dodge and move through the tornadoes.

Tozol Huatotl

The final boss of Xelphatol is Tozol Huatotl, who will use the following attacks and mechanics.

  • Ixali Aero: Deals damage to the Tank. Use defensive cooldowns to mitigate this damage as necessary.
  • Ixali Aero II: Tozol Huatotl will target a random player before firing a line AoE in their direction. Move out of the AoE indicator to avoid.
  • Ixali Aero III: Deals damage to all party members. Heal through this damage with AoE healing abilities.
  • Hawk: Tozol Huatotl will summon Hawks that will attack in one of two ways.
    • Spread: All players will be targeted with an AoE marker. Spread out to avoid overlapping these.
    • Stack: One player will be targeted with a stack marker. Group up on the affected player to spread out the damage of this attack.
  • Summon Garuda: Tozol Huatotl will summon Garuda at various intervals throughout the fight. Garuda will use a variety of AoE attacks that need to be avoided. Watch her AoE indicators carefully to avoid each attack while also dodging the boss's other attacks like Ixali Aero II and Hawk.

Tozol Huatotl will repeat these attacks until he is defeated. This fight can get overwhelming with all the AoEs occurring later on, so do your best to dodge each one and heal through the damage.
