It's clear that Pokemon Legends: Arceus differs quite a lot when compared to previous entries to the Pokemon series. However, this isn't exactly a bad thing. There's no doubt that this game is a step in the right direction and a refreshing change of pace.
One of the game's innovative features is the ability to craft your own items instead of only buying them. It's quite handy and it's easier to get crafting materials than money. In this article, we'll go over how to get access to crafting, how to craft, and all the recipes as well.
SPOILERS AHEAD: If you haven't gotten all the recipes yet and prefer to not know before finding them for yourself, proceed with caution as there are some light spoilers ahead.
How To Unlock Crafting
You won't gain access to crafting straight away, as you will first have to prove yourself to Cyllene that you can pull your own weight around the village and join the Galaxy Team as a member of the Survey Corps.
Cyllene will then hand you your uniform, and once you're back and with your new clothes back on, you can talk to your rival and then you'll start the 'Basics of Crafting' mission, which is exactly when you'll unlock the ability to craft.
Craftworks
During the Basics of Crafting mission, you'll be shown the Craftworks building in the village and you'll receive your first crafting recipe - Poke Balls.
The Craftworks is a building in Jubilife Village located right next to The Wallflower, the canteen - between the Training Grounds and the Galaxy Hall, so if you want to get there quickly you can fast travel to either one of these locations.
You can talk to Anvin, the shopkeeper, and he'll buy items off of you and sell both crafting materials and crafting recipes. There is also a workbench in front of the shop where you can craft.
How To Craft
You can craft either using the workbench or the crafting kit. A workbench is something you can't carry around with you, for example, you can use the workbench in the Craftworks or at the campsite. The crafting kit, on the other hand, is an item that you have with you in your Key Items tab.
Besides mobility, the difference between these two is that the workbench allows you to craft using items both in your satchel and the ones you have kept in storage.
On the other hand, when you use the crafting kit, you'll only be able to craft using items from satchel, which makes sense since it's an item you carry with you and when you're out exploring in the field you don't exactly have access to your storage. If you're having trouble holding only a few items, you can expand your satchel by talking to Bagin, an NPC at the entrance hall of the Galaxy Hall building in Jubilife Village.
Workbench
To craft using the workbench, approach and press A to craft. Then choose what you want to craft, moving the analog stick or the D-pad up and down to change the number of items you'll be crafting. Once you're satisfied with the number, press A again.
Crafting Kit
To craft using the crafting kit, press up on the D-pad and go to the Satchel tab. Go to the Key Items tab. Select the Crafting Kit by pressing A and then press A again to craft. Select the item you want to craft, moving the analog stick or the D-pad up and down to change the number of items you'll be crafting. Once satisfied, press A to craft the items.

Collecting all recipes and being able to make them all with the right materials gives you an advantage because it can make battling and capturing Pokemon a much easier task.
