The Geo Hypostasis is one of the elemental bosses in Genshin Impact. Creating Geo Constructs and launching stones, this boss is one of the harder Hypostasis fights. Let's take a look at where to find it, which characters to use, and how to defeat it.
Location
The Geo Hypostasis is located in Guyun Stone Forest, which is to the east of Liyue Harbor. You can see its exact location in the Traveler Guide book, as well as directly on the map after you have discovered it.
Best Characters To Use
The Geo Hypostasis is the elemental embodiment of Geo. It will create Geo constructs, which can be damaged the most by Claymore attacks and other Geo damage. For this boss, bring characters either of these types. Zhongli, Noelle, Albedo, Diluc, and Razor perform especially well in this fight.
How To Beat
The Geo Hypostasis will only take damage when its core is exposed. Before exposing its core, you must destroy the Stone Pillar that it is currently on top of. Doing so will drop it to the ground and reveal the core, allowing you to attack it. The general strategy for this boss is to destroy each pillar the boss flies to and attack it when you are able. Repeat this process a few times and the boss will go down. Let's take a look at each of the Geo Hypostasis' attacks and what they do.
Summon Pillars: The boss will summon four pillars around the arena that it will fly to each time a pillar is destroyed.
Stone Pellets: The boss will form a diamond shape with its shell before firing a stream of stone bullets at you. This can be avoided by sprinting to either side.
Hammerfall: The boss will teleport near you before turning into a hammer and smashing the ground near you. The boss will only perform this attack after all its pillars have been destroyed. You can dodge this attack by dodging in any direction.
Clap: The boss will form a wall with its shell before clapping the two halves together, dealing damage in the center. Dodge to either side to avoid this attack.
Stone Seal: The boss will put a targeting seal on you, indicating that it will summon an earth spike after a few seconds. This attack can be dodged by dodging right before the spike damages you.
Shockwave: The boss will launch a wave of damage from the pillar it is currently on top of. This attack can't be dodged but doesn't do that much damage.
Rain of Rocks: The boss will cause rocks to fall from the sky randomly around the arena. It will only do this attack if it is on the ground, not on a pillar. You can dodge this attack by carefully running around the arena.
Tremors: The boss will cause shockwaves to emit from every pillar, which will deal constant and significant damage. A Geo Construct will also appear next to the pillar the boss is currently on, which when destroyed will create a barrier that will protect you from all damage.
Terra Resurgence: When the boss has roughly 5-10% HP remaining, it will move to the center of the arena and create three stone pillars. After a few seconds, the boss will absorb the stone pillars and recover HP equal to the number of pillars absorbed. To avoid this, destroy the pillars before the boss absorbs them. Because they are Geo Constructs, the stone pillars will only take significant damage from Claymores and other Geo attacks. Use characters like Zhongli or Noelle to quickly destroy the pillars.
Rewards
Like other bosses in Genshin Impact, the Geo Hypostasis costs 40 Original Resin to open its rewards. Upon doing so, you'll receive Geo Character Ascension Materials, Basalt Pillars, and Artifacts from the sets Berserker, Instructor, Lucky Dog, Gladiator's Finale, Wanderer's Troupe, and Exile.
