Sucrose has been a support character in Genshin Impact since the beginning, but don't let her veteran-status fool you - Sucrose continues to be one of the most valuable four-stars in the game. She remains Genshin Impact's only Anemo catalyst user so far, which alone makes her distinct and useful in a variety of teams.

Sucrose's viability derives from several aspects of her gameplay: Anemo is an inherently flexible element, she can Swirl with her Normal Attacks, she can crowd-control groups of enemies, and she can be built easily and inexpensively. This guide will teach how to synthesize your own Sucrose build so you can see the power of this curious character.

Updated April 21, 2022, by Kyle Gorges: At this point, there aren't many Genshin Impact players who haven't tried out Sucrose on at least one of their teams. The amount of damage she can passively grant to the rest of your team is staggering, particularly if your team composition frequently triggers Elemental Reactions. We've updated this guide to reflect Sucrose's sweetest builds in the game's current landscape.

Best Weapons For Sucrose

These weapons will help you get then most out of Sucrose's abilities.

Weapon Name Base ATK Secondary Stat Passive Ability
Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers 39 HP When switching characters from Sucrose, the new character will have their ATK increased by 24% for 10s. This effect can only occur once every 20s.
Sacrificial Fragments 41 Elemental Mastery When Sucrose damages an opponent with her Elemental Skill, the Skill has a 40% chance to end its own cooldown. This can occur once every 30s.
Hakushin Ring 44 Energy Recharge After Sucrose triggers an Electro Reaction, party members of the same Elemental Type involved in that reaction gain 10% Elemental DMG Bonus for that element, lasting 6s.

The three-star catalyst, Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers, is infamous for being an exceptional weapon, despite its three-star rarity. This is especially true for Sucrose, who only needs its passive ability to be effective with it.

In fact, you can even leave this weapon at Level One if you want. This catalyst will still massively buff the character that follows Sucrose in your rotation, letting you easily power up your carry. Try to get Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers to higher Refinement levels if possible for an even greater buff.

Sacrificial Fragments is a four-star catalyst that has great chemistry with Sucrose thanks to its secondary stat of Elemental Mastery. Sucrose's Ascension Passives allow her to share her own Elemental Mastery with her entire team. As a result, the EM provided by this weapon will effectively increase the EM of your whole party. Sacrificial Fragments' passive ability, which occasionally gives Sucrose an extra Skill usage, can come in handy too.

Hakushin Ring is definitely Sucrose's most specialized weapon option, but it can be quite effective in a team composition with frequent Electro Reactions (such as a Sucrose "taser" team). Hakushin Ring's Energy Recharge stat will help Sucrose access her Burst more frequently, and the catalyst's passive will further buff the elemental damage of your teammates. If you use this in a team specializing in Electro-Charged Reactions, Sucrose will be able to grant her team Electro and Hydro DMG Bonuses constantly.

Best Artifacts For Sucrose

These artifact sets best compliment Sucrose.

Artifact Set Name Two-Piece Set Bonus Four-Piece Set Bonus
Viridescent Venerer Anemo DMG Bonus +15% Sucrose's Swirl DMG is increased by 60%. She will also decrease the opponent's Elemental RES to the element infused in the Swirl by 40% for 10s.

Artifact Set Analysis

Although experimentation should always be encouraged when it comes to build-crafting in Genshin Impact, it's difficult to recommend any Artifact set other than Viridescent Venerer for Sucrose.

She can trigger Swirls more often than any other Anemo character thanks to her Normal Attacks, giving her easy access to this Artifact set's full potential. The Elemental RES shred provided by this set is also extremely powerful, enabling your team's elemental damage dealers to output significantly more damage. Equip this four-piece set on Sucrose as soon as possible, even if your Artifacts have suboptimal stats.

It's worth briefly mentioning that using four-pieces of the Instructor Artifact set also complements Sucrose's gameplay well. Unfortunately, this set's potential is limited by its four-star rarity, but it can be perfectly serviceable at earlier stages of the game.

Artifact Stats

Speaking of Artifact stats, Sucrose ideally wants EM Sands, EM Goblets, and EM Circlets for her Artifact main-stats. This is what will allow her to pass the maximum amount of Elemental Mastery to the rest of her team.

Attaining EM versions of all these Artifacts can be difficult if RNG isn't on your side, so prioritize getting a full set of Viridescent Venerer pieces first, and then worry about obtaining EM main-stats.

In regard to Artifact sub-stats, more Elemental Mastery is naturally beneficial, along with Energy Recharge to increase the uptime of Sucrose's Burst. In general, though, Sucrose's Artifact sub-stats are not especially impactful, so don't worry if yours aren't ideal.

Sucrose's Talents And Constellations

Sucrose's Talents

Sucrose is rather unique in that you don't particularly need to increase her Talent levels in order for her to be effective. Her damage comes from Swirling other elements, and her utility comes from her team-wide EM buffs, meaning that the extra DMG scaling from leveling her Talents is usually not critical.

That being said, if you plan on using Sucrose actively as the driver of a "taser" team, for example, then it can behoove you to level up her talents a little. She'll probably use all parts of her kit equally in this kind of composition, so prioritize whichever Talents you end up using most.

Sucrose's Constellations

Sadly, Sucrose's Constellations are rather lackluster, but this might come as a relief to players who often struggle to roll multiple copies of the character they want.

Sucrose's C1 is her best Constellation, giving her a second charge of her Elemental Skill. This supplies Sucrose with more Elemental Particles and another AoE Swirl, improving her overall effectiveness when she's on the field.

C2 increases the duration of Sucrose's Elemental Burst by two seconds, which can keep enemies displaced for longer. It's an improvement that's nice to have, but hardly one that's essential.

C3 and C5 increase the levels of her Skill and Burst, respectively, by three. This would be a significant damage boost on most characters, but Sucrose unfortunately sees relatively little benefit from increasing her Talent levels.

The Anemo alchemist's fourth Constellation periodically decreases the cooldown of her Elemental Skill when she hits enemies with her Normal and Charged attacks. Quick-swap teams with Sucrose will rarely get any use out of this Constellation, and the effect is not especially noticeable even when using Sucrose actively.

Sucrose's C6 allows her Burst to trigger an extra Elemental DMG Bonus for teammates, which is a decent effect, but one that can be inconsistent due to the finicky nature of her Burst's Elemental Absorption.

Overall, Sucrose's Constellations beyond C1 don't really improve her gameplay in any notable manner, so feel free to stop at C1, even if you plan on using Sucrose extensively.
